45 to 90-minute doors
45, 60 and 90-minute wood doors.
Mineral core wood doors for fire barriers, stairwells, shafts and exit passageways, with the look of the rest of the interior.
- Non-combustible mineral core, 1-3/4 inch
- Temperature-rise rating for exit enclosures where required
- Rated vision panels within listing limits
Typical openings
- Doors into interior exit stairways (60 or 90 minutes, depending on the stair rating)
- Mechanical, electrical and trash rooms in rated shafts or barriers
- Doors in 1-hour fire barriers (45 minutes)
- Pairs with coordinator, astragal and automatic flush bolts
Limits to plan for
- Wood doors are listed up to 90 minutes; 3-hour openings need steel
- Fire-protective glass in 60 and 90-minute exit doors: max. 100 square inches
- Larger lites need fire-resistive glass marked D-H-T or D-H-W
- Maximum leaf sizes and pair sizes depend on the listing
How we supply rated doors
- Every fire-rated door we supply is built and labeled by a manufacturer that holds the listing for that door with a nationally recognized testing laboratory, such as UL or Intertek (Warnock Hersey), and is inspected under the lab's follow-up service.
- The label is applied at the factory. We never apply, move or replace fire labels, and we do not field-label.
- We take your door schedule and hardware schedule, check each opening against the listing, and have doors factory-machined for your hinges, locks, closers and electrified hardware.
- Matching non-rated doors in the same veneer, paint or laminate come from the same order, so a corridor looks the same whether a door is rated or not.
- Documentation for submittals and closeout: listing references, label type per opening, hardware compatibility and installation instructions.
Questions
Frequently asked.
Why mineral core?
Mineral cores are non-combustible and are what wood doors use to reach 45 to 90 minutes. Hinge and lock blocking is built in for screw holding.
What is a temperature-rise door?
Doors into exit stairways and passageways may need to limit the temperature on the unexposed side to 450 °F above ambient after 30 minutes, so people can pass. The label states it.
Can the doors be stained or veneer-matched?
Yes. Faces can be veneer, paint-grade or laminate, and can be matched to non-rated doors and millwork in the same space.
